Camilo Rojas, Ph.D., is the founder and CEO of ProjectUs.ai, an AI coach that helps people become more effective and empathetic leaders and colleagues, while supporting their engagement at work. The company is a VC-backed spinoff from the MIT Media Lab, where Camilo did four years of postdoctoral research (supported by the National Science Foundation) pioneering the use of AI to help people build their empathy (from romantically-engaged couples to corporate employees).
Camilo was born in Costa Rica, where he completed two undergraduate degrees in Physics and Electrical Engineering (University of Costa Rica). He continued his studies in Switzerland with a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Computer Science (Ecole Polytechnique).
In 2022, he served as Entrepreneurial Lead for his venture during their participation in the National I-Corps Program. The venture has also been selected in accelerators/incubators at MIT (DeltaV, Sandbox, VMS), and Harvard (Innovation Lab). Camilo also volunteers to support academic and entrepreneurial ecosystems at MIT/Boston and Latin America.
