Dorn Carranza, Ph.D., MBA, is a passionate member of the Mid-Atlantic I-Corps Hub Diversity & Inclusion Committee and an entrepreneurial leader driving federal initiatives to accelerate the translation and impact of science, technology, and innovation on society and patients.

As a Hispanic scientist and innovation strategist, he is a speaker, mentor, and national advocate for diversity, inclusion, and broadening participation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and the innovation economy. He is a member of various Lab-to-Market and Inclusive-Innovation federal initiatives, a member of the FDA STEM committee, and past chair of the HOLA FDA employee resource group that supports Hispanics at the FDA.

From 2015 to 2019, Dorn managed a portfolio of federally funded programs aimed to boost research, innovation, industry-university collaborations, and science and technology-based entrepreneurship in the U.S. He also led venture development, seed investment, grants, and startup incubation/acceleration programs focused on bringing scientific discoveries and technologies from research labs into the marketplace, and developing regional innovation ecosystems. As a scientific reviewer, he participated in numerous review panels for medical device and critical health innovation programs. From 2006 to 2014, Dorn led life sciences, biotech, and medical technology innovation, commercialization and business development programs in the San Francisco Bay Area for major corporations and startups. He co-founded Curium LLC, a Palo Alto-based firm with the mission of preparing the next generation of Ph. Ph.D.-level scientists empowered to become entrepreneurial and business leaders. His technical training includes a Ph.D.in Bio-Organic Chemistry, a B.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, a Licentiate's degree in Pharmacy, an MBA in Strategic Leadership, and regulatory affairs fellowship at Merck KGaA.
