Tomás Isakowitz, an Argentine native, is the Program Director for I-Corps and PCI Fellows at the University of Pennsylvania's Penn Center for Innovation (PCI). He is passionate about evolving scientific discoveries into businesses and provides mentorship and strategic direction. He has enhanced Penn's startup landscape through initiatives like I-Corps.
Tomás holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.Sc. from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. After his Ph.D., he was appointed faculty teaching Information Technology and authoring over 50 papers on computational logic and web design.
Tomás then took a senior position in Equity Research focusing on computer technology investments. He rejoined the University of Pennsylvania as Director of Strategic Initiatives to strengthen academic-industry ties. He initiated the PCI Fellows program at the Penn Center for Innovation, training over 200 fellows.
Tomás turned his efforts to developing startups, establishing Penn's NSF I-Corps Site. He developed and taught courses on customer discovery to support the development of startups, several of which secured substantial funding, growing into prosperous enterprises.
Tomás founded three software companies. Outside his professional pursuits, Isakowitz actively contributes to various non-profits, enjoys yoga, and is an avid hiker.
