The NSFI-Corps Mid-Atlantic Hub, in partnership with Morgan State University, wrapped up a Hub-wide cohort on October 25. The cohort featured 14 strong, research-based teams. Participant areas of focus included AI applications, medical devices, transportation logistics, and more. Collectively, the teams averaged over 15 interviews per team, a record in the last two years of Hub regional cohorts. Most of the teams will be eligible for the National I-Corps Teams program, where they can receive $50,000 for continued customer discovery that will help them commercialize their innovations.
Alongside the cohort, the Hub conducted part two of its Train-the-Trainer program, with eight trainees from Hub partners CMU, Hampton, Virginia Tech, and UMD. Trainees also served as adjunct instructors for the cohort and provided their customer discovery guidance alongside seven Hub instructors. Having additional trainers increases the teaching capacity of the entire Hub.
The next Hub regional cohort will be held in January.
